Problem

A distributor abroad asks for a quote for a chemical powder. Sales wants to ship quickly and has only a customs code.

Input

Goods: chemical powder, 25 kg bags. Destination: third country. Customer: new distributor.

What I did

  1. Enter the product, destination and customer type.
  2. Read the screening items the assistant lists.
  3. Add them to the quote process as steps before booking.

Result

Reference answer: before booking, screen the product against the EU dual-use list and the drug precursor rules, and the customer and destination against sanctions lists. The customs code alone does not decide this.

Where it can go wrong

Treating classification as the only check. A correct HS code does not clear a prohibited end use or a sanctioned party.

Human verification

  • Compliance officer reviews the product against the current legal lists.
  • Screen the buyer, the consignee and the bank.
  • Keep the screening record with the order.
Next step

Check your own shipment with the same steps.
