Is My Product Dangerous?

Not sure whether your product is dangerous goods for transport? Start with the information you already have. Do not guess the classification.

Important: A product's transport classification must be established from reliable product information and the applicable modal rules. An SDS can be an important input, but it should not be treated as the only automatic answer.

Do you have an SDS?

An SDS can provide important information, especially Section 14 — Transport information. It is not, by itself, the final transport classification.

Upload your SDS

Choose the SDS PDF. SUPPLY will extract the product and transport information automatically. You should not need to type the same information again.

Important: This tool gives a preliminary screening only. It is not legal advice and not an official or legally verified dangerous-goods classification. Values read automatically from an SDS may be incomplete or wrong. Before shipping, confirm classification, quantities, packaging and documents against the current ADR/IMDG text and with a qualified person, such as a dangerous-goods safety adviser (DGSA) or your carrier.

The PDF is processed in your browser in this prototype. It is not uploaded to the SUPPLY server. Only the extracted UN number is sent to a third-party ADR reference service (freightutils.com) for verification. Scanned/image-only PDFs may require OCR in a later version.

Check my shipment

Optional: use this step when you need a shipment-specific answer, including quantity limits and exemptions. You already have the basic classification result above.

You do not need to know the technical UN packaging code. SUPPLY will guide you and will not treat unknown packaging as verified.

SDS & transport guidance

SDS: Look first at Section 14 — Transport information. Also consider the product name, manufacturer, composition/use, UN number if stated, quantity, packaging and transport mode.

SUPPLY rule: We do not invent a UN number, classification or exemption. If reliable information is missing, the result will say so.

Road: ADR applies to the applicable dangerous-goods transport requirements.

Sea: Packaged dangerous goods by sea require verification against the current IMDG Code, including classification, packing, marks/labels, documentation, stowage and segregation.

Regulatory basis: ADR 2025 for road transport. IMDG Code 2024 Edition incorporating Amendment 42-24 for packaged dangerous goods by sea. The IMDG 2024 Edition with Amendment 42-24 became mandatory on 1 January 2026. ADR 2025 applies from 1 January 2025. ADR 2027 is expected to apply from 1 January 2027, with ADR 2025 usable until 30 June 2027 — check the UNECE site before relying on either edition.
